Since 2012, TCF has organized eye camps for underserved areas in West Bengal, primarily aiding seniors. In 2023-24 alone, TCF held 27 eye camps with 4,380 attendees (1,915 men and 2,465 women). Over 3,300 patients received free eyeglasses, while others were referred to specialists for more complex eye conditions. Sponsored by individuals, families, and corporate donors, these camps offer direct and visible improvements in patients’ vision and quality of life.

TCF Eye Camps have helped over 30,000 people with eyeglasses and free eye medication

2023 Eye Camps

The Toronto-Calcutta Foundation (TCF) has been organizing eye camps since 2012. Each year, between November and March, TCF typically holds an average of 30 eye camps. In 2023, this tradition continued, with camps hosted across several villages in West Bengal, stretching from Kolkata to far-off areas such as Malda, Medinipur, Birbhum, and Burdwan, among others. In total, 25 eye camps were conducted, with 4,598 individuals attending and 3,626 receiving a pair of eyeglasses.
During these camps, optometrists identify cases of cataracts and refer individuals to hospitals for surgery. Many participants have expressed deep gratitude for the free eyeglasses they received. These eye camps are made possible through the generous sponsorships of our various donors. In some cases, donors sponsor the camps in honor of their loved ones, making these efforts even more meaningful. We are immensely thankful to all our sponsors for their support.
