TCF Education Centre – Bolpur

This centre was opened in 2021. Tribal Children aged 5 to 16 come to the TCF Education Centre for learning. We not only provide basic education to tribal children but also offer extracurricular classes. Special lessons are given on subjects such as English, Bengali, Mathematics and Science. These additional educational opportunities foster enthusiasm among the children, encouraging their wholehearted participation in the program. The Champsee Family Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting these classes, demonstrating unwavering commitment and making invaluable educational opportunities accessible to these students.

The centre is open 6 days a week and provides daily breakfast to all the attendees as well as school bags and school supplies.

There are parent teacher meetings to discuss the progress of each student

Student and parents participate in annual sports events, fostering community engagement. TCF encourages the children to follow their indigenous activities as well.

Each student, once a month assists with maintaining the areas of the TCF Education Centre and also participate in maintaining their village.

Over 400 tribal children annually have attended our centre from classes I to X in the last 4 years.

I am a student of Uttaran, Jahanara Khatun. I have been with Uttaran for four years. The machine that was given to me from Uttaran I am working with it now at home and also coming to school to work. Whatever work I have done, half of the money was deposited for the machine and working with it at home and it has been a great help and it has been a big benefit to me. Thank you for giving this machine to me.

I am sewing here for four years. I could not sew at home as I did not have a sewing machine. Now it is helping me as I have received a sewing machine from Uttaran, TCA. Now, I could sew many many things at home, because of this I am benefiting financially. I can also sew many items for Uttaran from home.

With my meager income it was impossible for me to pay for my daughter’s cleft operations after paying all family expenses. I never thought that my daughter’s cleft operation will be completed without any cost to me. Thank you all very much. As a father what I could not fulfill for my daughter TCA has fulfilled that. Teacher Albasto Laskar of TCA school “Prayas” took my daughter Kashmira and arranged for whatever was necessary. I convey my thanks.

I am Rina Sau. I am a student of the two year Sahayika program at Ramakrishna Sarada Matri Bhavan. I finished 9 months of this two year program. We are still working at the Hospital Ward and learning a number of new procedures. When I do not understand any procedures, our teachers and senior nurses go over the procedure again until I understand. When I look after the patient, I feel I did something good. When I finish this two year course, I will either work at Matri Bhavan or find a job somewhere else so that I can help my parents monetarily.

I have been at Ramakrishna Sarada Matri Bhavan for the last 9 months taking classes in Sahayika program. We are continuing our practical classes in the hospital ward. We learned in our practical classes such as Catheterization, Injection, and changing dressing. In addition, we learned how to change napkins, Perineal care. Teachers also taught us how to prepare a “Normal Delivery Tray”. After finishing this course I will earn money and help my parents and the family.
